Weekly Update - 9.8.24
Good afternoon, and welcome to our Weekend Update.
What a great week in our campaign to deliver Pennsylvania’s critically important 19 electoral votes to President Donald J. Trump. On Wednesday, Fox News and Sean Hannity hosted a town hall at the Farm Show Arena in Harrisburg. This was meant to be the first debate, but Kamala Harris didn’t show. President Trump did a fantastic job. Click here or below to watch the town hall.
I spoke to Fox 43 News before the event. Click here or below to watch my interview.
We are entering another important week as Pennsylvania will host the first presidential debate between President Trump and Harris. Voters across America will hear a clear contrast between the two candidates and their visions for our nation’s future. I am confident that President Trump will again deliver a passionate and optimistic vision to get our country’s economy moving in a positive direction, end out-of-control inflation, create family-sustaining jobs, end the invasion at our southern border, promote peace through a strength national defense strategy, and ultimately Make America Great Again. Meanwhile, Kamala Harris will likely continue to lie about her positions while simultaneously promising to continue the failed policy agenda of the past four years. The debate is live on Tuesday, September 9, at 9 p.m. on ABC and nearly every other major news network.
Election Day is rapidly approaching—it is just 58 Days away. We have launched a page on our website that tracks important registration dates and deadlines for submitting mail-in and absentee ballots. Click here or below to visit.
Kamala Harris’ attempted flip-flop on her anti-energy views is leading Pennsylvanians to ask… was she fracking lying then, or is she fracking lying now?
The Biden-Harris Administration has had an all-out assault on domestic energy, including on natural gas in Pennsylvania. From blocking pipelines to increased energy taxes, crippling regulations, and banning LNG exports, this Administration’s energy policies have been detrimental to the Commonwealth and our country. I joined "The Big Money Show" on Fox Business to discuss further. Click here or below to watch.
Check out my interview on The John Steigerwald Show. We covered President Donald Trump's town hall, Kamala Harris’s visit to Pennsylvania, the numerous policy failures of the Biden-Harris Administration, and a look ahead at the Pennsylvania election. Click here or below to listen.
IN NEWS YOU WON’T HEAR IN THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA: While Kamala Harris likes to brag about how great the economy is doing under the Harris-Biden administration, the numbers continue to paint a different picture.
Job growth was much lower than expected in August, while revisions over the previous two months indicate gaping holes in Kamala’s economy — as fears of a Kamala-induced recession continue to mount.
The economy added just 142,000 jobs in August — far lower than economists’ expectations — as the labor market continues its slowdown. The number of jobs reported in June has now been revised down on two separate occasions, a trend that has continued over 11 of the past 15 months.
The net job growth in August came largely from part-time employment, while full-time jobs “plummeted” — a clear sign Americans are in distress, economists say.
In fact, the number of people working part-time for economic reasons shot up by 264,000 in August alone — and 614,000 over the last year — as Americans struggle to make ends meet in Kamala’s economy. That’s the highest number since May 2021.
The economy lost 24,000 jobs in the manufacturing sector alone last month.
Things are great — if you’re not an American. Over the last 12 months, 1.3 million native-born Americans LOST employment, while 1.2 million foreign-born workers GAINED employment. As many as 768,000 native-born Americans LEFT the labor force, while 1.5 million foreign-born workers JOINED the labor force.
Inflation is out of control.
Just wait until Kamala raises taxes by $5 trillion and destroys the economy for good.
The only way back to prosperity is by re-electing President Donald J. Trump in November.
Around the District:
I'm happy to announce that my office has secured $213,177 in federal funding for the Wyoming County Healthcare Center. This grant will create jobs and improve healthcare access for thousands of residents in rural areas. Equipping our healthcare centers with the necessary tools and resources ensures that every patient receives the high-quality care they deserve. This funding exemplifies my office’s commitment to strengthening rural healthcare. I will continue working in Congress to improve access to care and address the industry's workforce shortages in rural Pennsylvania. Click here or below to learn more.
On Wednesday, I enjoyed providing a legislative update to the Williamsport/Lycoming Chamber of Commerce. I will continue advocating for pro-growth policies that benefit Main Street America in Congress. We must improve access to capital, preserve the small business provisions of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, and cut burdensome regulations that hinder entrepreneurs' success.
Thank you to Jason Fink, President and CEO of the Chamber, for hosting the event. I always appreciate the thoughtful questions and feedback to ensure our business community's voices are heard in Congress. The Williamsport Sun-Gazette covered my visit. Click here to read more.
Afterward, I joined Dave McCormick and Barry Schlouch for a great luncheon in Berks County, where we discussed issues facing Pennsylvanians and the private sector. Dave is picking up momentum daily as we head into the November 5th election.
Later, I attended the Fox News town hall with Sean Hannity and President Trump at the New Holland Arena in Harrisburg.
On Thursday, I taped a great show with Sam Lesante. We discussed the upcoming election and many hot topics. You'll be able to view it by clicking here.
Thursday night, Shelley and I attended a great fundraiser in Towanda to support the re-election of our State Treasurer, Stacy Garrity. We need to ensure our great statewide GOP ticket wins in November.
- Stacy Garrity for Treasurer
- Tim Defoor for Auditor General
- Dave Sunday for Attorney General
On Friday, I attended the Luzerne County Fair. It was extremely well attended, organized, clean, and had a great atmosphere. Congratulations and thanks to Brenda Pugh for her over ten years of leadership as President of the Fair. It took a lot of work, management, and organization to make the fair so special for all. Thanks, Brenda, and we look forward to getting you elected to the State House in November.

God Bless our great nation, God Bless our Republican Party, and God Bless President Donald J. Trump. I look forward to seeing you soon,
