Weekly Update - 9.22.24
Good afternoon, and welcome to our Weekend Update. Like you, I am deeply concerned about the safety of President Donald J. Trump in the wake of repeated attempts made on his life. Last weekend, a man attempted to assassinate President Trump in Florida. Thankfully, the Secret Service was able to thwart his plans before the shooter could carry out his deadly attack. However, it remains troubling that more resources are not dedicated to protecting President Trump. The level of protection must be based on the threat level to the official or candidate being targeted, regardless of whether they’re a current office holder, especially a former president. To ensure the safety and security of President Trump and to preserve our democratic process, the Secret Service must provide him with the same protective detail as the sitting president. Since the assassination attempt in Butler, House Republicans have pressed the FBI and Homeland Security, demanding increased security measures for President Trump. The rally's failures—from lack of resources to poor communication and planning—left him extremely vulnerable. Meanwhile, Biden, Harris, and Mayorkas have been all talk, no action. Even in high-risk situations, little has been done to improve President Trump’s safety. This is not just about President Trump—it’s about the integrity of our democracy and electoral process. The local sheriff and Secret Service admitted they lacked resources in Palm Beach, citing his status as a “former president.” Protection isn’t about titles; it’s about ensuring safety. Had the Secret Service, Biden administration, and Homeland Security acted swiftly and transparently, it would have served as a strong deterrent against would-be attackers. Instead, their silence puts more than just one man at risk—jeopardizing our constitutional republic. I joined “Mornings with Maria” on Fox Business to discuss further. Click here or below to watch.
