Weekly Update - 4.19.26

Good afternoon, and welcome to our Weekend Update.

Tuesday was Tax Day – and over 53 million Americans have already benefited from provisions of the working families tax cuts, including no tax on tips and overtime, the senior deduction, as well as small business tax provisions. The American people are seeing an 11% increase in their tax refund as a direct result of the House Republicans signature legislation.

Watch my appearance on Newsmax for a full breakdown of the Working Families Tax Cut, the path forward to funding DHS, the ongoing negotiations with Iran, and more! Click here or below to watch.

It was great to join my House Republicans colleagues to celebrate the many benefits of the Working Families Tax Cut on Tax Day.

This year, millions of American families and small business owners are saving more of their hard-earned money thanks to the provisions in the WFTC.

I appreciate all the small business leaders for joining us in Washington to celebrate this massive victory for all hard-working Americans.

The allegations against Eric Swalwell are despicable and beyond unbecoming of a member of Congress. He must be held accountable and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. I joined the “American Agenda” on Newsmax to discuss further. Click here or below to watch.

IN NEWS YOU WON’T HEAR IN THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA: Over 53 million Americans across the country are taking advantage of President Trump and Republicans' Working Families Tax Cuts.

Every single Democrat voted against the Working Families Tax Cuts, but thanks to President Trump and Republicans, Americans are seeing their biggest tax refunds yet.

It was great to welcome Berks County Commissioners Christian Leinbach, Michael Rivera, Dante Santoni, and Deputy County COO Larry Medaglia to Washington on Tuesday. We spent time discussing opportunities before us and the work we are doing to advocate for our constituents.

I always appreciate the opportunity to connect and hear directly from our local leaders, and I’ll continue working in Congress to support our communities and deliver for Pennsylvania families.

As someone who spent over 20 years growing a small business into a large one, I know small businesses succeed when they can keep more of their hard-earned money to invest and grow their company.

Thanks to the Working Families Tax Cut, 25 million small businesses are paying 22% less in taxes than they would have without the bill, 26 million people are benefitting from no tax on tips, and 6 million seniors are not paying any taxes on their Social Security.

In House Committee on Small Business hearing, I thanked representatives of America's small business community for fueling our economy and outlined the many benefits of the GOP tax plan. Click here or below to watch.

It was a pleasure to sit down with Geisinger Health President and CEO Dr. Terry Gilliland during his visit to Washington.

Geisinger operates 10 hospitals and over 120 care sites across its service area, employing roughly 26,000 people, including many in Pennsylvania’s 9th.

We discussed the $50 billion Rural Health Transformation Fund established by House Republicans’ Working Families Tax Cut and how Geisinger is integrating AI to improve patient outcomes.

Around the District:

On Monday, it was great to join Secretary Doug Burgum and my colleague Congressman Rob Bresnahan in Lackawanna County for a productive visit focused on workforce development and energy innovation.

At Lackawanna College, we had the opportunity to meet with Lackawanna College President Jill Murray, students, and faculty to see firsthand the cutting-edge work being done in robotics, cybersecurity, and advanced technology programs the college offers in Scranton and in Tunkhannock. These initiatives are critical to building a skilled workforce that can support and strengthen Pennsylvania’s natural gas industry and broader energy sector.

We also visited Steamtown National Historic Site to discuss America 250 and the importance of preserving and promoting our nation’s history as we approach this milestone anniversary.

Pennsylvania has the resources, workforce, and innovation to lead in energy production and economic growth. By investing in workforce training and supporting institutions like Lackawanna College, we’re ensuring our communities are prepared for the opportunities ahead.

Later, I joined the Berks County Republican Committee for their Spring Dinner last evening. It was a strong turnout and a valuable opportunity to connect with dedicated grassroots leaders and supporters who are doing the work every day to move our communities forward.

I appreciated the chance to share an update on our work in Washington and to hear from our next Governor Stacy Garrity, Attorney General Dave Sunday, and many of my state colleagues about the important work they are doing for our constituents.

A special thank you to Berks County Republican Committee Chairman Jim Billman and the entire committee for hosting a great event. Proud to be working alongside so many committed leaders to keep Pennsylvania moving in the right direction.

On Tuesday, I joined Senator Dave McCormick and Dina McCormick for a strong event in support of Congressman Rob Bresnahan, Ryan Mackenzie, Brian Fitzpatrick, and Scott Perry.

There was an impressive turnout with supporters from across Pennsylvania and around the country, highlighting the importance of these races. Holding these Pennsylvania seats is critical to maintaining the House majority, and the support shown tonight is essential to making that happen.

Yesterday, I spent a great afternoon in Luzerne County celebrating the grand opening of the new Republican Party of Luzerne County headquarters. It was a strong showing, with many elected officials and supporters coming together. Thank you to Luzerne GOP Chair Lee Ann McDermott for her continuous support and her dedication to our county party. Proud to support efforts like this as we continue strengthening our presence in Northeast Pennsylvania.

Whether you’re looking to volunteer, register to vote, or pick up a sign, be sure to stop by the new office!

Last week was so busy, we neglected to share the outstanding fundraiser I attended with Speaker Mike Johnson in support of Congressman Bresnahan's campaign.

We’re working every day to deliver for our constituents and continuing that work by building support across the region. Thank you to Speaker Johnson for making the trip to Northeast Pennsylvania to support Rob, who is fighting for our shared conservative values and putting the people of NEPA first.

Together, we remain focused on strengthening our communities and continuing to deliver results for Pennsylvania and the country.

May God continue to bless our nation. I look forward to seeing you soon,

Dan Meuser
