Happy Labor Day weekend, and welcome to our Weekend Update.

On Monday, we honor the men and women in 9^th District and across the country who work hard to contribute to our way of life and build the American dream.

The growing rise of socialism is threatening the ability of those working hard to achieve the American dream. There’s nothing democratic about socialism. It replaces individual freedom and economic opportunity with government control and has failed wherever it has been tried.

Condemning socialism shouldn’t be a difficult vote. Every Member of Congress should be willing to make clear where they stand.

The American people should pay close attention to what happened in Washington this week. It sends a clear message about where the Democratic Party is headed and the consequences its members may face for challenging their own leadership.

On Tuesday, just two out of 213 House Democrats helped Republicans bring a resolution condemning socialism to a House vote. Democratic leaders publicly rebuked them for breaking ranks, called their decision a “significant breach of trust” and referred the matter to their caucus rules committee for possible disciplinary action. Those two Democrats then joined six other Democrats and every Republican who voted in supporting the resolution. Another 192 Democrats voted against it. The resolution also called for voter ID requirements, which 80% of the electorate supports.

On Wednesday, 205 House Democrats blocked a constitutional safeguard against packing the Supreme Court. The amendment would have fixed the Court at nine justices. Every Republican who voted supported it. Just one Democrat joined them. Democratic opposition denied the measure the two-thirds majority needed to advance, leaving the door open to future expansion. No political party should be allowed to stack the Supreme Court and turn the nation’s highest court into a rubber stamp for its agenda.

The contrast could not be clearer. Democrats refuse to condemn Hassan Piker, who said “America deserved 9/11,” but condemned two of their own members for breaking ranks on a procedural vote that allowed the House to condemn socialism.

This week showed that there is no room for independence from the socialist agenda within today’s Democratic Party. Members who break ranks are condemned and threatened with punishment. Candidates may campaign as moderates, but once elected, there will be no room for moderate actions or independent votes. They will be expected to support the socialist agenda or risk being denounced, ostracized and excommunicated by their own party.

Our Constitution was designed to protect the people from government by limiting its power. The socialist agenda is a radical departure from our constitution, seeking to control people through government rather than protect individual freedom. That is the choice facing America: a government limited by the Constitution and accountable to the people, or a socialist agenda that gives Washington greater control over them. They have told us who they are, we should believe them.

The DSA and Abdul El-Sayed epitomize what the democrat party has become. It’s a socialist party, and there’s nothing democratic about socialism.

As we recounted, 192 Democrats voted against a resolution condemning socialism, and all but eight Democrats voted to pack the Supreme Court.

The numbers don’t lie…. Republicans are locking up criminals and making America safer. Democrats want to defund the police, clear out the prisons, and allow the more radical socialists to take over their party and agenda. The differences between the GOP and Dems couldn’t be clearer heading into the election.

In Schuylkill County, the emergency services training facility has become one step closer to reality. This week, the county put the construction work out for bid. Our office helped to secure about $2 million in federal funding for this critically needed funding for this training center for our first responders. Click here or below to read more.

It was a pleasure to join the Schuylkill Chamber of Commerce for the ribbon-cutting and grand opening of The Golden Kettle at Alvernia University’s Pottsville CollegeTowne. This is an amazing accomplishment for Stephen Smith and his team.

Stephen is bringing The Golden Kettle, a make-your-own mac and cheese restaurant, to life after winning the Launch Pottsville business competition. Organized by Pottsville Area Development Corporation, the program provides entrepreneurs with the guidance, mentorship, and resources needed to turn promising ideas into successful businesses while creating jobs and strengthening downtown Pottsville.

Our office secured $2 million in federal funding to help make Alvernia University’s Pottsville CollegeTowne a reality. It has been great to see what Alvernia has done with this investment, transforming a vacant former grocery store into a hub for education, entrepreneurship, and economic development. Now, with businesses like The Golden Kettle opening their doors here, we are seeing that investment continue to pay dividends by creating opportunities for local entrepreneurs, supporting new businesses, and contributing to the revitalization of downtown Pottsville.

I was glad to be joined by Senator Dave Argall, Commissioner Boots Hetherington, Commissioner Larry Padora, Commissioner Gary Hess, and many other great community leaders.

It was a pleasure to be at the Sullivan County Fair with my friends PA Treasurer Stacy Garrity, County Commissioners Darlene Fenton and Brian Huffsman, Chairman Don Cicero, and everyone who came out to enjoy the festivities.

It was great to spend the day catching up with friends, discussing important local issues, and enjoying great food—including milkshakes. These events remind us of Pennsylvania’s best traditions and the communities that make our commonwealth such a great place to live. Thank you to everyone who put on this fantastic event, especially Chairman Don and his wife Jewel for being such great hosts.

Shelley and I are deeply saddened by the passing of our longtime friend, Lynette Villano. I knew Lynette for 20 years, and there was no more dedicated patriot, friend, or community leader.

Lynette devoted so much of her life to Luzerne County and our Republican Party, serving as county chairwoman, state committeewoman, and delegate. A steadfast supporter of President Trump, she brought unwavering conviction and a deep love of country to everything she did. Her dedication inspired those around her, and her friendship meant a great deal to me.

My prayers are with Lynette’s family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. She leaves a lasting legacy of service and will be dearly missed.

May God continue to bless our nation. I look forward to seeing you soon,
