Weekend Update - 8.30.26
Good morning, and welcome to our Weekend Update.
Earlier this week, I joined Fox Business to discuss Secretary Chris Wright and his visit to Pennsylvania coal country to show his support for Pennsylvania workers and clean, beautiful coal.
During the visit, Secretary Wright and SBA Administrator Kelly Loeffler signed an agreement to bring more private investment to our energy infrastructure through Small Business Investment Companies.
Watch for more on the Secretary’s visit, House Republicans’ legislative plan for next month, and more. Click here or below to watch.
Later, I also joined Newsmax to further discuss Secretary Chris Wright’s visit to Pennsylvania to support our energy sector and all the American workers who rely on clean, beautiful coal for their livelihoods.
Coal helped build America, powering the factories, industries, and electric grid that made our nation an economic powerhouse. And coal remains essential today, providing roughly 20% of America’s electricity and delivering the reliable, affordable power our economy and communities depend on. I joined the “RJ Harris Breakfast Show” on WHP-580 to discuss my public service announcement warning Pennsylvanians about the dangers of financial fraud and scams against American consumers and outline my work with the White House Task Force to Eliminate Fraud against the federal government. IN NEWS YOU WON’T HEAR IN THE MAINTREAM MEDIA: This week, Democrat Senator Chris Coons grossly smeared our great country, saying America "is no longer the leader of the free world” and instead praised Volodymyr Zelensky as “the primary national leader.”
This comes as no surprise considering Democrats are propping up candidates across the nation who literally hate our country:
- Michigan Democrat Abdul El-Sayed thinks America deserved 9/11.
- Colorado Democrat Melat Kiros said 9/11 was America's fault.
- Iowa Democrat Christina Bohannan said it’s “sensitive and controversial” to love America.
- Texas Democrat James Talarico said: "The American flag is such a complicated symbol for most of us."
- New York Democrat Darializa Avila Chevalier: "I forgot to get napkins so I just wiped my hand on the American flag behind me."
Along with an extremist agenda that will tear our country apart:
- Abolishing the police, ICE, borders, & prisons
- Abolishing the Senate, presidency, & Supreme Court
- Defunding the Pentagon
- Mass amnesty for criminal illegal aliens
When a sitting Democrat United States Senator slanders our country in favor of a foreign leader and Democrat candidates think America deserved 9/11 and patriotism is “complicated,” the message is clear: Democrats have abandoned the American people.
As Speaker Mike Johnson recently highlighted at a campaign event in Wilkes-Barre, this upcoming election is truly a choice between common sense versus crazy. Visit ContrastForAmerica.com to lear more.

And some Democrats will do anything to win, including lie, cheat and steal, as the recent post from state Rep. Russ Diamond highlights. In 2014, Rep. Diamond caught several members of the Lebanon County Democrat Party forging signatures on petitions. Rather than turn them in, he asked them to withdraw the petitions. Fast forward to today, those same individuals are highly active and participating in this year's election, either as party officials or candidates themselves. Click here or below to read Rep. Diamond's post.
I want to thank U.S. Department of Energy Secretary Chris Wright for coming to Schuylkill County and standing with the hardworking men and women of Pennsylvania’s coal industry. It was great to welcome him alongside Congressman Rob Bresnahan, Congressman Ryan Mackenzie, and Pennsylvania State Treasurer Stacy Garrity.
Here in the heart of the Anthracite Region, we know our clean, beautiful coal is second to none, and Pennsylvania anthracite will continue playing an important role in powering America’s energy comeback.
Thank you to Brian Rich, William Rich, John Rich, Marc Trostle, and the entire Reading Anthracite team for showcasing the people, operations, and hard work behind one of our Commonwealth’s most valuable natural resources.

Later, I toured Creative Design and Machining in South Abington with SBA Administrator Kelly Loeffler, Secretary Chris Wright and Congressman Rob Bresnahan Jr. Layne Crothers, Creative Design and Machining owner, and his team shared their appreciation for the work we’ve done in Washington to advocate for American workers and manufacturing, including the small business provisions in the Working Families Tax Cuts like R&D expensing, the small business deduction made permanent, and interest deductibility.
Following the tour, the U.S. Small Business Administration and Small Business Investment Companies (SBICs) signed a memorandum of understanding to drive more private investment to companies like Creative Design and Machining.
My Investing in All of America Act expands SBIC lending capacity for manufacturing, rural communities, and critical technologies. I’m glad to see the SBA continuing to harness the power of our financial markets to reinvest in our small businesses.

Additionally, I joined Congressman Rob Bresnahan Jr. and Secretary Sean Duffy at the Wilkes-Barre Scranton International Airport to discuss the importance of making our airports safer and more resilient through federal investments.
We also visited the nearby Nanticoke/West Nanticoke bridge, which has been permanently closed since 2025. This is a vital link for traffic to small businesses in Nanticoke and our first responders, whose response time increased due to the closure. With the Secretary’s support, I am confident we can restore this connection for the community.

Prior to this, I was glad to welcome the Honorable Chris Wright to Schuylkill County alongside Congressmen Rob Bresnahan and Ryan Mackenzie, our future governor Stacy Garrity, and many other local elected officials for an event highlighting the importance of American energy production and ensuring our Anthracite Region remains a vital part of powering Pennsylvania and our nation.

I joined Congressman Rob Bresnahan and the Honorable Howard Lutnick for an event highlighting the importance of strengthening American manufacturing, supporting small businesses, and advancing pro-growth policies that create good-paying jobs and keep America competitive.

I joined Representative Robert Leadbeter and members of the Columbia County Farm Bureau for a tour of Bureau President Mark Schultz’s farm before sitting down with local farmers to hear directly about the challenges they’re facing.
We discussed the importance of passing the Farm Bill to help lower input costs and provide farmers with greater certainty, as well as addressing agriculture’s workforce challenges so producers have the reliable labor they need to keep their operations running.
I’ll continue working to advance policies that support our farmers, strengthen American agriculture, and ensure producers have the tools and certainty they need to keep feeding our nation.

Great to be back in Williamsport for the Little League World Series to cheer on Pennsylvania’s own East Side Little League from West Chester!
It was a pleasure joining State Treasurer Stacy Garrity and Lycoming County Commissioners Scott Metzger and Marc Sortman for the game. These young athletes have made our entire Commonwealth proud with their talent, teamwork, and determination.
The Little League World Series represents the very best of America’s pastime, bringing families and communities together while welcoming players and fans from around the world to Pennsylvania.
This was a hard-fought game that went into extra innings thanks to a gritty performance. A tough loss. But West Chester represented Pennsylvania with pride.

Finally, America lost an icon. May God bless Dolly Parton, one of the most beloved Americans of the last 50 years.
Many do not know that her Imagination Library foundation has provided over 300 million books to American children. She was a philanthropist, businesswoman, patriot, entertainer, and genuinely great person.
May she rest in peace.

May God continue to bless our nation. I look forward to seeing you soon,

Dan Meuser
