Weekend Update - 6.7.26
Good afternoon, and welcome to our Weekend Update.
It was great to join President Donald J. Trump in the Oval Office this week as he announced a $700 million investment for coal plants across the country and a new export terminal in California.
Coal is critical to Pennsylvania’s economy, supporting 11,500 good-paying jobs across the Commonwealth. This is a major step in asserting America’s energy independence and managing energy prices for ratepayers.
America needs clean, beautiful coal.

Pennsylvania is one of the country’s largest producers of clean, beautiful coal, which powers nearly 20% of our nation’s energy needs. Now, thanks to new technology, coal has over 70% less emissions than it did just 15 years ago.
President Trump and Congressional Republicans support the American coal industry and the hundreds of thousands of good-paying jobs it supports. Watch my appearance with “Bianca Across the Nation” on Newsmax where I discuss the President’s plan to reinvest in our coal infrastructure, my SCAM Act bill, and more by clicking here or below.
Earlier in the week, I joined “Mornings with Maria” on Fox Businessto discuss the Working Families Tax Cuts Act and how it is fulfilling its intent and then some. 85% of seniors are not paying taxes on Social Security, 7.5 million filers claimed No Tax on Tips, and 29 million claimed No Tax on Overtime. These numbers represent real savings for American taxpayers that President Trump and Republicans in Congress made possible.
We also discussed the House GOP plan to fully fund immigration enforcement, and how Trump Accounts will create a participatory economy for future generations. Click here or below to watch.
IN NEWS YOU WON’T HEAR IN THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA:President Trump and Congressional Republicans are putting more money in your pockets:
Thanks to President Trump and Republicans’ Working Families Tax Cuts, American families can keep more of their hard-earned dollars and are finally feeling relief after four years of failed Democrat policies. Click here or below to listen to just one testimonial about how this historic legislation is delivering real results for hardworking American families.
The Working Families Tax Cuts have had real impacts on American families:
- American Steel worker Jason Alexander: “The year before the Working Families Tax Cuts I actually had to write a check when I filed my taxes. This year…we received an incredible refund of more than $10,000."
- Business owner Darcy Michalek: “One employee shared with me that the additional refund she received allowed her to finally pay off more than $4,000 in high interest medical debt…"
- Restaurant Server Sultan Stipho: “Because of no tax on tips…I received approximately $4,000 back…that refund kept a door to my future open, and I wouldn’t have these opportunities without it.”
- Parent and public school teacher Clark Saunders: “When Congress supports adoption it’s not simply helping adoptive parents, it is helping children move into permanent, stable, loving families…"
Despite every single Democrat voting against these life-changing tax cuts for hardworking Americans, President Trump and Republicans have delivered more opportunities and bigger paychecks for the American people.
In more news you may have missed: The Democrat Party is being led by the crazy, far-left, socialist, and downright crazy wing of their party. Watch this clip of House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries attempting to answer questions about a leftist extremist congressional candidate from New York who is endorsed by Mayor Zohran Mamdani. Click here or below to watch.
I highlight this because it is no longer a faction of the Democrat Party… THIS IS THE DEMOCRAT PARTY.
I also want to flag this clip from Secretary Bessent, who makes an important point: a strong manufacturing sector is not only an economic asset, but a strategic one. Pro-growth doesn’t mean foreign goods; it means America First manufacturing.
“We told ourselves that so long as goods were cheaper overseas, it did not matter whether factories went dark in Michigan, Ohio, or Pennsylvania.”
The ability to produce essential goods at home supports higher wages, greater investment, and a more secure nation. Click here or below to watch.
This week the prudential regulators, tasked with overseeing the complex U.S. banking system, testified before the House Financial Services Committee.
Vice Chair of Supervision Michelle Bowman of the Federal Reserve, Comptroller Jonathan Gould of the OCC, Chairman Travis Hill of the FDIC, and Kyle Hauptman of the NCUA testified. This was an impressive team.
All four have the exact right perspective and approach to ensuring the safety and soundness of the U.S. banking system. Minimal regulation and maximum growth. They understand that community banks are the ones who lend to Main Street, finance mortgages, and keep deposits in local communities. We look forward to collaborating with them on financial fraud & scams, Making Community Banking Great Again, and increasing housing supply through mortgage financing.

I fully support the House Committee on Appropriations decision to include Rep. Michael Cloud’s bipartisan amendment to the FY 2027 Transportation and Housing bill blocking a requirement for automakers to install a “kill switch” in all new vehicles on American roads.
This policy represented a massive government overreach and an invasion of every American’s property and privacy rights. Time to “kill the kill switch” for good.
I had several meetings at the White House this week, including with White House Legislative Director James Braid and Special Assistant to the President Jack Rosemond.

While there, I had to get a picture with President Trump's portrait and the Biden autopen.

I also got to see the White House preparation for the UFC Freedom 250. The stage was built in Lancaster, Pennsylvania at the Rock Lititz campus and then transported in pieces to the White House.

The Democrats were very critical of President Trump's decision to clean up and repair the reflecting pool on the National Mall. Amazingly, they were silent during the Biden administration when the pool was filled with trash and was disgusting. Trump fixed it for $13 million, and it was completed in weeks. The Obama administration spent $34 million between 2010 and 2012 to repair the pool. Look at the first pictures below of the amazing job the Trump administration did repairing this landmark.

This is not the first time that President Trump has stood up and taken on projects for the community. Prior to his political career in New York City, Trump accomplished that time and time again, including building the skating rink in Central Park. Click here or below to watch an interview of him discussing that project with David Letteman.
On Thursday, I had an event with our special guest, colleague, and good friend, Congressman Andy Barr (R-KY). Andy is poised to be the next U.S. Senator from Kentucky. I greatly appreciate his friendship and support. Thank you to him and all that attended.

Congratulations to Lila Leisey of ELCO High School for earning first place in this year’s Congressional Art Competition with her piece, Keystone State. Lila’s artwork was an outstanding representation of Pennsylvania’s 9th District during America’s 250th celebration and will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for the next year.
I also want to recognize Karina Aviles of Shenandoah Valley High School for earning second place for How Did We Get Here?, and Ariel Hall of Williamsport Area High School for earning third place for Liberty Lives. Karina’s artwork will be displayed in my Washington, D.C. office, while Ariel’s will be showcased in my district office.
Congratulations to Lila, Karina, Ariel, and all of the students who participated. The talent and creativity displayed this year made the competition a tremendous success.

June is National Dairy Month, a time to thank all those who keep dairy products on American tables.
Pennsylvania’s dairy farms generate an estimated $11.1 billion in annual economic activity and support more than 46,000 jobs across the industry. This year, Congress passed, and President Trump signed, the Whole Milk for Healthy Kids Act, which gives schools the option to provide whole and 2% milk to students. I will continue supporting our dairy farmers, producers, and distributors to keep Americans healthy and the industry strong.
Happy Dairy Month and International World Milk Day!

In related news, USDA Secretary Rollins approved a disaster designation for Pennsylvania following the spring freeze that affected local farmers. I recently joined members of the Pennsylvania Congressional delegation in urging Secretary Rollins to approve this designation to ensure affected producers have access to the relief they need to recover.
This designation allows USDA to provide emergency loans to producers recovering from natural disasters. These loans can help replace essential equipment or livestock, reorganize operations, or refinance certain debts.
Producers in Columbia, Luzerne, Lycoming, Montour, Northumberland, Susquehanna, and Wyoming Counties are eligible for this assistance and have until Jan. 26, 2027, to apply.
Additional information can be found on farmers.gov.

The app to manage Trump Accounts is officially live. Download the app using the link below to prepare for the launch of Trump Accounts on July Fourth and learn how more American children can participate in the long-term growth of the American economy.
Thank you, President Trump and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, for helping future generations build wealth that will set them up for financial success! Special thanks to National Design Studio, BNY Global, and Robinhood for their incredible work on this project. Click here or below to access.
America’s capital markets create wealth on a scale no other nation can match. Trump Accounts will allow more Americans to participate in the growth and success of our economy.

Last week, I made a brief visit to Panama to the Panama Canal. The trip was highly educational, as they detailed the system's amazing construction and operation. We discussed the importance of U.S. control of the channel with the Ambassador and other Panamanian officials. The US must maintain control as we face threats of China trying to gain control.

This year, America is celebrating a major milestone with the 250th anniversary of our nation's founding. One of our nation's most historic and classic theme parks is also celebrating a major milestone, as Knoebels marks its 100th anniversary. This year, the great theme park, with free admission, has already been named the nation's top amusement park by Traveladvisor's Travelers' Choice Awards. What an incredible honor and we look forward to spending some time at the park very soon. Click here or below to read more about Knoebels.
Yesterday, we remembered the extraordinary sacrifice made 82 years ago on D-Day, June 6, 1944.
Among the 73,000 Allied troops who landed on the beaches of Normandy, 2,501 Americans gave their lives in the cause of freedom. Their courage helped liberate Europe, defend the free world, and preserve the blessings of liberty for generations to come.
As we honor these heroes, we give thanks for their selfless service and unwavering devotion to duty. May God continue to bless their memory. No words can ever fully repay the debt we owe, but today and always, we remember—and we are grateful.

In a closing note, I want to acknowledge Andy Mehalshick, a titan of Pennsylvania broadcasting, who recently announced his retirement as he battles prostate cancer.
During his more than 40-year career, Andy has covered some of the biggest stories in Pennsylvania and the nation with fair, honest, and balanced reporting. He is also a genuine guy and a fun person to be around.
Please join Shelley and me as we pray for his full recovery and wish him well in retirement. Andy, you always have me on speed dial. Please stay in touch.

May God continue to bless our nation. I look forward to seeing you soon,

Dan Meuser
