Weekend Update - 6.28.26

Good morning, and welcome to our Weekend Update.

On Tuesday, we welcomed President Donald J. Trump back to Pennsylvania. He joined us in Macungie at the Mack Trucks plant, highlighting his success in reigniting American manufacturing. It was a privilege to speak ahead of President Donald J. Trump’s address in Macungie.

We all appreciate the President joining us to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary on the very Pennsylvania soil where our nation was founded. Thanks to his leadership, we can look forward to an even brighter future for our economy and our national security. Click here or below to watch my opening remarks.

Prior to my speech, I spoke with Newsmax prior to the President’s address. We spoke about the importance of President Trump visiting Pennsylvania, particularly with respect to the upcoming elections. Click here or below to watch.

After the event, we traveled with the President to an America 250 celebration in Washington, D.C.. It's going to be an amazing week in our nation's capitol, celebrating this historic birthday for our nation.

President Trump’s visit to Pennsylvania was a show of support for American workers. Thanks to his leadership and the Working Families Tax Cuts, seniors and workers across Pennsylvania will benefit from No Tax on Social Security, Overtime, and Tips.

Crucially, President Trump is confident that oil prices will continue to decrease rapidly. Companies should ignore the noise and rely on the certainty the President is providing to decrease prices at the pump.

That same day, Democrats were nominating socialist candidates for Congress in New York. The Democrat party is no longer the Democrat party - they are the Democrat socialist party.

Watch my interview on “Fox & Friends” where I discuss the President’s visit, the state of the Democrat party, and falling gas prices. Click here or below to watch.

Later, I joined “Varney & Co.” on Fox Business to discuss the President’s trip to Pennsylvania and outline the many victories we have delivered together for our Commonwealth and the nation.

Thanks to the President’s leadership and the Working Families Tax Cuts, 2.3 million Seniors will benefit from No Tax on Social Security, the average overtime worker’s tax bill has been reduced by $1,300 per year, and tipped workers are seeing a reduction of $1,200 a year across Pennsylvania.

I also discussed the importance of gas prices continuing to drop and the certainty the President is delivering on the end of the Iran conflict.

Watch my interview where I lay out the President’s recent successes on energy and how the rhetoric from Democrat leadership is endangering America’s national security interests. Click here or below to watch.

Under Chairman Warsh, the Fed is hawkish on inflation and dovish on reform. Warsh’s creation of five task forces and commitment to restoring price stability while shrinking the balance sheet represent a fresh approach appreciated by markets and economists alike.

Watch my appearance on CNBC's “Morning Call with Morgan Brennan,” where I discussed Chairman Warsh’s policies, prediction markets, the benefits of Trump Accounts, Reconciliation 3.0, and how Financial Services Committee Republicans are expanding housing supply with the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act. Click here or below to watch.

It was a pleasure to meet this week with Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh one-on-one. We discussed the importance of the Federal Reserve remaining focused on its dual mandate of maximum employment and stable prices.

Chairman Warsh is bringing a fresh approach to the Fed, one rooted in disciplined monetary policy, a more responsible balance sheet, and reforms that return the institution to its core mission. I appreciate his focus on empowering private-sector growth, strengthening community banks, and ensuring credit is driven by America’s financial institutions rather than an ever-expanding central bank. That’s the kind of leadership that will better serve the American people and keep our economy strong.

It’s simple: only American citizens should be voting in American elections. That’s why House Republicans passed the SAVE America Act to secure our elections and preserve American democracy.

Now, it’s time for the Senate to rally around commonsense voter ID legislation.

Watch my interview this week with Maria Bartiromo on Fox Business, where I emphasize the need for Congress to break the legislative logjam, recap President Trump’s recent event at the Mack Truck plant in Pennsylvania and discuss my recent meeting with new Federal Reserve Chairman, Kevin Warsh. IN NEWS YOU WON’T HEAR IN THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA: Under President Trump and Republicans, zero criminal illegal aliens have been released into our country for 13 months straight.

Highlights from May include:

  • Southwest border apprehensions were 94% lower than the monthly average under Biden
  • Apprehensions per day along the southwest border were 94% lower than the daily average under Biden
  • Total Border Patrol apprehensions along the southwest border this fiscal year through May are 26% lower than just one month on average from FYs 1992 through 2024
  • Seizures of cocaine, methamphetamine, heroin, fentanyl, and marijuana increased 32% from May 2024
  • Fentanyl seizures increased 72% from April 2026
  • CBP has seized 56% more drugs this fiscal year through May than during the same period of FY 2024

The President's actions have helped to combat the drug trade as well. This has meant a massive, nearly 50%, reduction in fetanyl deaths as well. President Trump is cleaning up the mess made by Joe Biden and the Democrats, closing our borders, and making our country safe and secure again.

In 2025, Small Business Investment Companies (SBICs) delivered more than $53 billion in investment capital to small businesses nationwide. Over the past two decades, businesses backed by SBICs created 3 million new jobs and supported an additional 10.5 million jobs.

Last month, President Trump signed my Investing in All of America Act into law, legislation that will increase the capital available to small businesses, especially those in rural and underserved communities, manufacturing, or the critical technology sector through SBICs.

In this week’s House Committee on Small Business hearing, I asked Joshua Carter, Associate Administrator for the U.S. Small Business Administration Office of Investment and Innovation, about this success and how this new law is allowing the SBA to support more small businesses and crucial industries.

I appreciate my counterpart on the other side of the aisle, Rep. Hilary Scholten, for helping me get this overwhelmingly bipartisan bill signed into law. Our work together is proof that both parties can come together to deliver real solutions to the American people. Click here or below to watch.

I spoke with an engaged group of students from the Alvernia University Global Youth Leadership Boot Camp to discuss the legislative process and answer their questions about the biggest issues facing Congress.

Supported by Customers Bank CEO Jay Sidhu, these students come from the United States and nine other countries, including Austria, Colombia, Costa Rica, France, Honduras, India, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, and the United Arab Emirates.

I appreciate all these students for their thoughtful questions. I want to offer special thanks to Dave Patti for assisting this event and also to Anthony Pugliese for his support and for attending. Our world has a bright future thanks to this next generation of entrepreneurs.

It was great to welcome ELCO High School senior Lila Leisey of Lebanon County to my office in Washington to congratulate her on winning the Ninth Congressional District’s 2026 Congressional Art Competition.

Lila’s winning entry, entitled “Keystone State,” is a 12-by-12 watercolor painting featuring a Pennsylvania Dutch quilt pattern with prints of the Liberty Bell.

This year’s competition theme, America 250, encouraged students to celebrate the 250th anniversary of our nation’s founding. I can think of no better artwork to represent our district than a rendering that features Independence Hall’s iconic bell.

Her artwork will hang in the U.S. Capitol for the next year for members of Congress, staff, and visitors to admire. Congratulations, Lila, on this well-deserved honor.

Enjoyed time with my family and so many other great attendees at the annual Father’s Day Noxen Rattlesnake Round Up.

Hosted by the Noxen Volunteer Fire Company, the event features live music, food, rides, and plenty of activities and exhibits. A fantastic tradition that supports a good cause.

Yesterday, we attended Schuylkill County’s 250th Parade in downtown Pottsville. We were joined by our great U.S. Senator Dave McCormick. The crowd was so pumped to see him as he has been doing an incredible job fighting for Pennsylvania in the United States Senate.

And it would not be a trip to Pottsville without seeing the great Dick Yuengling. (Pictured with State Rep. Jamie Barton)

Despite the rain, the community still came together to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary. I enjoyed walking alongside Senator McCormick, Representative Jamie Barton, Representative Tim Twardzik, the Schuylkill County Commissioners, and members of the Schuylkill County Republican Committee as we celebrated our nation’s history and the values that continue to make America exceptional.

As we continue celebrating America’s Semiquincentennial, I’m grateful to be part of a community that proudly honors our nation’s history while looking with confidence toward its future. Thank you to PADCO for organizing this wonderful celebration, and to the volunteers and everyone who participated in making it such a memorable event.

We also visited the new Miners Hotel in Pottsville. It is a beautiful addition to our community, and I look forward to hosting events and staying at the Miners Hotel in the near future.

I was glad to attend an event in support of Stacy Garrity’s campaign in Susquehanna County last evening. It was wonderful to see our Susquehanna County Chair, Donna Cosmello, and so many other friends and supporters who came out to back Pennsylvania’s next governor, Stacy Garrity.

May God continue to bless our nation. I look forward to seeing you soon,

Dan Meuser
