Weekend Update- 10.4.26
Good afternoon and welcome our Weekend Update.
President Donald J. Trump’s announcement of a new $15 billion steel plant in Iowa is a major investment in American steelmaking, American workers, and our national security.
And we’re seeing that same commitment to American steel right here in Pennsylvania. U.S. Steel is making significant new investments in its Pennsylvania operations, strengthening an industry that has powered our Commonwealth and our country for generations.
From expanding domestic steel production to unleashing American energy and supporting the coal and manufacturing industries that make it possible, President Trump’s policies are encouraging companies to invest and build here in the United States.
Watch my interview on “Mornings with Fox Business,” where I discuss the new steel investment, Energy Secretary Chris Wright’s recent visit to Pennsylvania, and more. Click here or below to watch.
Homeownership matters to all Americans, especially young people. Earlier this year, Congress enacted the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act, a bipartisan initiative that expands opportunities for community banks to lend, streamlines permitting for new home construction, and stops large institutional investors from competing with American families in the housing market.
Watch my interview on Newsmax, where I discuss this legislation, how my Veterans Housing Opportunity Act would increase housing assistance available for homeless veterans, and more. Click here or watch
I joined Bob Cordaro on "The Bob Cordaro Show" to discuss the stakes in this year’s election and the direction of our country.
We talked about the importance of keeping the focus on the issues facing working families, including taxes, healthcare, energy, the border, education, and the size and role of government. We really went into the
Today’s Democrat Party is offering voters open borders, higher taxes, more government control, and policies that move our country further toward socialism. They will say anything to win, but voters deserve to know what they actually stand for and what their policies would mean for Pennsylvania. Please click here or below to listen.

IN NEWS YOU WON’T HEAR IN THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA: Americans know that Democrats Don't Care About Them.
Only 34% of Americans think Democrats care about “people like them,” and Democrat Mark Kelly had a hard time answering when confronted over it.
Maybe it’s because Democrats have made it clear their priorities are completely out of touch with the American people:
- Their number one priority if they gain control is to impeach President Trump
- Every single Democrat voted against the largest tax cuts in American history
- Refusing to support the SAVE America Act even after President Trump uncovered that there are over 270,000 non-citizens who are registered to vote in federal elections
- Putting Americans through the longest shutdown in American history to protect criminal illegal aliens
- Fighting against stopping fraud Democrats have enabled for years
- Embracing an anti-law enforcement agenda to abolish police, prisons, and borders and grant millions of criminal illegal aliens mass amnesty
- Putting American children at risk by supporting dangerous gender mutilation surgeries, and campaigning alongside child predators
- Defending terrorist attacks, sympathizing with terrorists, and slandering white Americans as “the greatest domestic terrorist threat in our country"
We are 30 days out from the midterm election and Democrats still have no real plan to help the American people, other than catering to the far-Left for more power.
And don't just take my word as a Republican Congressman... listen to Bill Maher who breaks down the hijacking of the Democrat Party by far-left extremists. Click here or below to watch.
It’s always great to be back at the Bloomsburg Fair, one of the great traditions in our region. I had a great time at the 171st Fair, walking the fairgrounds with former Pennsylvania State Representative Dave Millard, catching up with longtime friends, and talking with folks from across the community.
The Bloomsburg Fair is truly an incredible celebration of Pennsylvania agriculture, craftsmanship, entrepreneurship, and the values that make our Commonwealth such a special place.
If you’re heading to the Fair this week, make sure to stop by the State and County Exhibits Building to speak with my team and learn more about the services my office provides.

Senate Democrats blocked two positive, broadly supported pieces of legislation.
The Ratepayer Protection Act passed the House 417-3, requiring new data centers to cover the power generation and grid costs they create rather than shifting them onto families and small businesses.
Senate Democrats also blocked the House-passed congressional stock trading bill, which would prohibit Members of Congress, their spouses, and dependent children from purchasing individual stocks.
Despite the broad support for these policies, Senate Democrats fell in line with Chuck Schumer, who went so far as to call the Ratepayer Protection Act a “fraud.”
This is the problem with today’s Democrat Party. They would rather block positive legislation than give President Trump and Republicans a perceived win.
Why can’t Democrats work with Republicans to make America as strong, secure, and economically prosperous as possible, and then politically fight over who gets the credit? Democrats believe they gain political advantage by obstructing good policy and rely on the biased media to help them blame damaging policy on Republicans.
They obstruct and then blame Republicans when Washington fails to deliver.
If Democrats win the House on November 3, today is a preview of what we could see for the next two years: blocking legislation that moves America forward simply because President Trump and Republicans might get credit for it.

It was great to join State Rep. Robert Leadbeter for his Fourth Annual Veterans Ceremony during Military Day at the Bloomsburg Fair.
I enjoyed speaking with veterans from across our region, Pennsylvania Treasurer Stacy Garrity, and Maj. General Terrence Koudelka of the Pennsylvania Air National Guard as we recognized the men and women who have served our nation.
Stacy Garrity gave a great speech. Stacy is a former colonel, our current State Treasurer, and of course our gubernatorial nominee.
We also had the opportunity to see a Stuart tank, like those produced in nearby Berwick during World War II. Pennsylvania has a proud military history, and the Bloomsburg Fair’s Military Day is always a great opportunity to recognize those who have served and those who continue to serve today.
Thank you to all our veterans and service members for your service to our country.
