Weekly Update - 9.3.23

Good afternoon, and welcome to our Weekend Update.

First and foremost, I want to wish all American workers a happy Labor Day.

Unfortunately, many Americans are suffering under the crippling effects of Bidenomics. I joined NewsmaxTV’s “Wake Up America” to discuss the state of the economy and Joe Biden’s job performance. One thing has become painfully obvious: Joe Biden is incapable of fulfilling the duties of President of the United States. With 77% of Americans, including 69% of Democrats, believing he is not capable of being an effective president in a second term, the mainstream media can no longer hide the information from their viewership. Click here or below to watch my interview.

Last Sunday, I attended the Little League World Series final game with my friend Frank Pelligrino. For those who missed it, California defeated Curaçao with a walk-off home run: a great game and a tremendous event. I strongly recommend everyone in the 9th District t to attend this great event. Maybe next year we will plan a nice get-together during it. The game and experience are a great time. It just feels like America at its best.

On Monday morning, I was invited by the Williamsport/Lycoming County Chamber to provide a congressional update to their members. It was an excellent opportunity to discuss my priorities in Congress and how I’m working on important issues for Lycoming County.

After the Chamber breakfast on Monday, I toured Country Store Brand Meats. They have been producing delicious meat products in Pennsylvania’s 9thDistrict since 1957. I was happy to tour the company’s impressive pork processing operation in Pennsdale with owner Larry Allison and Vice President Kevin Nash.

And to finish the day on Monday, Frank Pelligrino put together an excellent event for me at the John Ryan Brewery in Williamsport. There were so many great supporters in the room, and I’m grateful for their support and friendship.

On Tuesday, I joined the Schuylkill Chamber of Commerce along with the great team of Schuylkill County state legislators to hear an update from PA Secretary of Transportation Mike Carroll. I want to congratulate Schuylkill County President and CEO Bob Carl, Schuylkill leaders, and airport management for putting together such a great event. The Chamber invited Secretary Carroll to the Schuylkill County Airport to have him give an update to members. Also in attendance were State Senator Dave Argall, State Representatives Jamie Barton, Dane Watro, Joanne Stehr, and Tim Twardzik.

At the end of the week, I joined a Congressional Delegation on a trip to Sweden. I joined Congresswoman Ann Wagner and other House members in welcoming Sweden into NATO. Official membership will be likely in October. This is a significant initiative on Sweden's part to become a member. This is a strong blow to Russia's Putin. I am pictured below with Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, Foreign Affairs Chairman Michael McCaul, Vice-Chair Ann Wagner and other congressional members.

Pictured below with U.S. Ambassador to Sweden Erik Ramanathan, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee Michael McCaul, and Vice Chair Ann Wagner.

A Congressional Delegation visited Berga Naval Base to receive a briefing on the unit stationed there and its close cooperation with the U.S. military. The training conducted by the Swedish military was incredibly impressive, as was their commitment to being a first-rate NATO partner.

IN NEWS YOU WON’T HEAR IN THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA: As the nation celebrates Labor Day, recognizing the American worker, the economy is struggling. Joe Biden’s Economy is giving American workers nothing to celebrate.

BIDEN HAS BETRAYED AMERICAN WORKERS

  • With persistent inflation eating away at wage gains, more and more Americans are struggling financially.

    • Inflation-adjusted average hourly wages, the Bureau of Labor Statistics adjusts to 1982-1984 dollars, were $11.39 when Biden took office and are now $11.09, meaning Americans have seen a 2.6 percent pay cut under Biden.

  • Strapped for cash, Americans are increasingly withdrawing from their retirement savings to make ends meet.

  • Consumer confidence recently saw its biggest drop in two years due to “souring views on the labor market, higher borrowing costs, and lingering inflation.”

  • As Biden’s economy flounders, U.S. companies, including Farmers InsuranceT-Mobile, and CVS, have all announced layoffs in the past month.

  • Meanwhile, Biden is expected to continue his record pacing rate of vacations, caring more about his vacation time than the American people.

    • Since taking office, Biden has spent 380 days on vacation – 39.9 percent of his presidency.

    • This past month alone, Biden spent 19 days on vacation.

LABOR UNIONS ARE TURNING AGAINST BIDEN

  • Biden promised to be the “most pro-union president” in history but canceled the Keystone XL pipeline on day one, killing 8,000 union jobs.

  • One of the largest labor unions in New Hampshire is refusing to endorse Biden’s re-election bid, saying his “record and actions” do “not merit an automatic re-endorsement.”

    • The United Auto Workers is also holding off on endorsing Biden, citing concerns over his electric vehicle policies.

  • The Border Patrol union is deeply unhappy with Biden’s leadership, calling the administration “corrupt to its core.”

  • Starbucks employee Alyssa Coakley on Biden’s failure to deliver on campaign promises: “When it comes to labor, it’s been a little bit performative. Like, what more are you doing for us?”

BIDENOMICS IS CRUSHING AMERICANS

  • Day-to-day life continues to get more expensive under Biden.

  • Inflation has risen by 16.9 percent since Biden took office.

  • Americans are suffering from the lasting effects of Biden’s record-breaking inflation, with many unable to pay bills, save money, or afford rent.

    • 61 percent of Americans report living paycheck-to-paycheck.

  • Bidenomics has cost the middle class $2.4 trillion since March 2022.

  • Low-income Americans are being hit the hardest by inflation, according to studies by the New York FedDallas Fed, and the Urban Institute.

  • Americans are increasingly borrowing to cover daily expenses, finding their regular income is no longer enough to make ends meet.

  • The Fed has hiked interest rates 11 times since March 2022 – now at their highest level in 22 years – making it harder for families to buy a home, finance a car, pay off debt, and perform various other financial transactions.

If the dire economic situation wasn't enough, Bidenomics is ruining Americans' Labor Day plans. Sixty-one percent of Americans are less likely to travel this Labor Day weekend due to inflation. Forty-two percent of Americans expect rising prices to impact their Labor Day plans, and more than 85 percent plan on implementing money-saving measures for the holiday.

As Americans travel to see friends and loved ones this holiday weekend, they will face high prices at the gas pump. U.S. average gas prices currently sit at $3.83 per gallon, more than $1.40 per gallon higher than when Biden became president. U.S. average gas prices have been above $3 per gallon for more than 840 days straight. Two states have seen a return of $5 per gallon of gas. Labor Day cookouts will cost more under Biden, with hot dogs up 3.3 percent, burgers up 3.1 percent, rolls up 5.8 percent, cookies up 6.9 percent, pie up 8 percent, and beer up 4.3 percent compared to last year. Those who choose to celebrate by eating out will pay, on average, 7.1 percent more than last year.

Our country needs to go in a different direction, and that begins with defeating Joe Biden next year. Every time we think Biden's scandals won't get worse, they do.  This week, we learned the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) has more than 5,000 potential emails from three aliases President Joe Biden used while serving in the Obama administration, according to a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit filed. Why is it that both Biden and Obama are fighting to keep them from the American people? Because they both know they are sleazy. wrong, sell out our country, perhaps illegal, and definitely unethical. That’s why…

We need to re-elect President Donald Trump and Make America Great Again.

Donald Trump continues to dominate the polls, up by 40 points in many polls, both nationally and in key primary states, including Iowa, Florida, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, etc. We know Trumpenomics works for all Americans, and Bidenomics fails.. especially in the long term. Also, the Biden vacuum of worldwide leadership is creating further coalitions of what was our allies in the international community siding with our adversaries. This scandal-plagued, hapless, extreme left-wing White House must not continue past ‘24.

We look forward to catching up with you next week. God Bless, and see you soon,

Dan Meuser
