Weekly Update - 4.21.24

Good afternoon, and welcome to our Weekend Update.

Tuesday is Primary Election Day. While President Trump does not have a contested race, we must support him and our other GOP candidates up and down the ballot. I encourage you to support Republican Dave McCormick for the U.S. Senate. Please support Treasurer Stacy Garrity, Auditor General Tim DeFoor and Dave Sunday for Attorney General for our statewide row offices. Please vote to support Republican candidates and pro-Trump delegates.

We have important state legislative elections as well. Please be sure to do your research and vote. Pictured below at the recent Trump rally with State Rep. Mike Cabell.

This is an important step toward victory in November. The polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. If you are unsure where to vote, click here to learn more.

In every election cycle, specific visuals from the campaign trail can tell you a lot about how each candidate conducts their race and even give you a sense of how they are doing.

This week, Joe Biden made multiple stops in Pennsylvania. In Pittsburgh, Biden attempted to pump up the crowd. Nothing gets an audience going like a made-up story about cannibalism. Look at the excitement on everyone’s faces… such an inspiring orator. Click here or below to watch.

Later, Biden made prearranged stops at Pennsylvania convenience stores. Biden’s visits were carefully arranged, places were cleared out, and he was protected to prevent gaffes. See the image below.

Compare that with President Donald J. Trump. Trump held a massive rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday, and this week, he made an impromptu stop at a bodega in Harlem. Hundreds of well-wishers and supporters greeted Trump. Please take a look at the image below.

The difference between the two candidates could not be starker. The Biden campaign is so concerned that their candidate can directly interact with voters that they are unwilling to put Biden in any off-the-cuff situation. Meanwhile, President Trump is happy to stop in what many would consider a deep Democratic voter area and openly meet and interact with everyday Americans.

Pay attention to what is happening... if the Biden campaign isn't willing to send their candidate into a convenience store without it being staged, how is he supposed to run the nation? He can't.

This week, Congress has debated funding for Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan. I am fully supportive of the Ukrainian people’s efforts against Russia’s invasion led by the war criminal Vladimir Putin, and I will continue to support the provision of necessary defense articles to safeguard Ukraine's freedom. Unfortunately, the supplemental funding legislation for Ukraine contained $10 billion in U.S. taxpayer dollars for "economic assistance” to be paid directly to the Ukrainian government. I could not support anything other than what I stated from the beginning, which is needed military equipment and weapons for Ukraine, procured by the United States military. Any support to Ukraine must be confined to the procurement of essential military articles, while under complete control of the United States. Additionally, this aid was meant to be paired with comprehensive funding to secure our border.

The Biden Administration’s failed border policies have created a deadly crisis. We have migrant crime, drugs poisoning our youth, human trafficking, and now, squatting. At the federal level, my SHIELD Act will require that an illegal immigrant convicted of trespassing be deported from the United States and deemed permanently inadmissible for re-entry. This legislation will serve as a strong deterrent for any illegal immigrant considering unlawfully possessing an American’s home. I joined “The Big Money Show” on Fox Business to discuss the issue further and my legislation. Click here or below to watch.

I interviewed with the Daily Signal regarding my SHIELD Act. Click here to read.

Secretary Mayorkas has lied to Congress under oath on many occasions and has failed to enforce existing immigration laws, a violation of Article II of the Constitution. He is guilty of "willful and systemic refusal to comply with the law" and "breach of public trust" and was rightfully impeached by the House.

Chuck Schumer and Senate Democrats refusing to hold an impeachment trial of Secretary Mayorkas is an abdication of the Senate’s constitutional responsibility and an affront to the millions of Americans suffering from Biden’s Border Crisis. Never has the Senate agreed to a motion to table articles of impeachment, and their action was an unprecedented act of partisanship by Senate Democrats. I joined the “American Agenda” on Newsmax to discuss further. Click here or below to watch our interview.

Check out my "Fox Across America" interview with Todd Piro TV on FOX News Radio. We discussed my thoughts on the foreign aid supplemental bills, the potential motion to vacate the chair, and the ongoing crisis at our southern border caused by the reversal of Trump-era border policies. Check out my “RJ Harris Breakfast Show” interview on WHP-580. We covered several pressing topics, including the rise of squatting by illegal immigrants and my legislation to curb this trend. We also discussed efforts to protect the integrity of the 2024 elections to help ensure voters’ confidence in the process. Click here or below to listen to my interview.

Check out my interview with Bob Cordaro on WILK Newsradio. We covered President Biden’s latest visit to Pennsylvania, this Administration’s failed tax policies, squatting by illegal immigrants, election integrity issues, potential foreign aid legislation, and much more. Click here to listen.

IN NEWS YOU WON’T HEAR IN THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA: Biden’s crisis at the southern border continues to worsen.

Another month, another unprecedented number in Biden’s border invasion.

New data shows 189,372 illegal immigrants were encountered at the southern border in March — the 37th straight month where monthly encounters have been HIGHER than even the highest month under President Trump.

Since Biden took office, 9.4+ million illegal immigrants have crossed the southern border, including 1.8+ million known “gotaways” who escaped past Border Patrol and into the country.

On average, 5,000 illegal aliens are being released into the country every single day.

The consequences of unchecked immigration are devastating. In recent days:

  • An illegal alien — who crossed the border months after Biden took office — was arrested in connection with the death of an advisor to Democrat Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto.

  • 10 illegal aliens were arrested at a Texas “stash house” after police executed a search warrant in a child pornography investigation.

  • An illegal alien was arrested in California for murdering a man and dismembering his body.

  • Five illegal aliens were arrested at a New York City migrant shelter after ganging up and attacking a bystander.

Biden, meanwhile, continues waffling on executive action he’ll likely never take — despite manufacturing the border crisis via executive action in the first place.

So, when will the carnage end? When President Donald J. Trump is re-elected.

I was happy to invite Angelo Valletta, President & CEO of Ben Franklin Technology Partners of Northeastern PA, to testify before my Small Business Subcommittee. BFTP provides critical funding to businesses across Pennsylvania, business and technical expertise, and access to a network of valuable resources that early-stage and established companies need to grow and succeed in the highly competitive worldwide marketplace. I look forward to hearing Mr. Valletta’s perspective and discussing innovative strategies for deploying capital to small businesses nationwide. Click here or below to watch.

I had the pleasure of inviting Brett Palmer, President of the Small Business Investor Alliance (SBIA), to testify before my Small Business Subcommittee. The SBIA is dedicated to sustaining a robust, healthy, and competitive market for investing in American small businesses utilizing the SBIC program. Last year, SBICs invested over $8 billion in small businesses across America, including $412.3 million in Pennsylvania small businesses.

I thank Mr. Palmer for sharing his testimony and expertise with members of our committee today and look forward to taking action on his many suggestions to improve the SBIC program, including my bill HR 5333, the Investing in All of America Act. Click here or below to watch.

The House Committee on Small Business unanimously passed my bill, H.R. 5333, the Investing in All of America Act. This bill will bolster the flow of capital to small businesses located in rural or low-income areas, as well as those operating in the national security technologies sector. By incentivizing private capital investments in often overlooked regions of the country, the Investing in All of America Act will help provide these small businesses with the necessary capital to thrive. In Pennsylvania, the data shows cybersecurity is becoming increasingly important and more of a problem. At a hearing this week, I explored solutions to help small businesses. With increased inflationary costs and expiring tax provisions, cybersecurity is another cost that they cannot handle without help. Click here to watch.

Earlier this week, I was happy to meet with board members from the Your Dairy Checkoff Program, including Lolly Lesher of Way-Har Farms, to discuss the pressing issues affecting Pennsylvania's dairy industry.

I had the pleasure of meeting with the National Beer Wholesalers Association to address the unique challenges faced by family-owned and operated beer distributors across Pennsylvania. Among those present was Wilsbach Distributors, Inc., a vital distributor serving retailers throughout greater Lebanon County. Notably, Pennsylvania's Ninth District is home to Yuengling Beer, the oldest continuously operating brewing company in the United States, with its headquarters proudly situated in Pottsville. In Congress, I remain committed to advocating for pro-growth policies that benefit America’s small businesses.

I met with Mara McNeill, CEO of Toyota Financial Savings Bank (TFSB). We discussed how Bidenomics and rising inflation affect auto prices and financing and how to bring prices down for consumers in Northeast Pennsylvania.

On Thursday evening, I traveled from Washington, D.C., to Schuylkill County, where Roy Heim hosted a fundraiser for my campaign in Orwigsburg. Many great friends and supporters were in attendance, and I’m thankful for all of the support. The support shared with me allows me to help Republicans from the top of the ticket with President Trump down to winning congressional and even state representative races.

I want to thank our Spring interns, Cora Cox and James Gallagher! Cora, a Senior at Alvernia University, is pursuing her passion in Business Management. James, a native of Luzerne County and a Sophomore at George Mason University, is majoring in Legal Studies. Thank you, Cora and James, for your dedication to serving the constituents of Pennsylvania's 9th District.

We are excited to catch up with you next week. God Bless, and see you soon,

Dan Meuser
