Weekly Update - 11.19.23

Good afternoon, and welcome to our Weekend Update.

President Donald J. Trump gave a tremendous speech at the America First Policy Institute event. To build upon what was done in his first term and make our nation's national security and economy the strongest it can be... The world knows a strong America and leadership will ensure peace around the globe. Trump 2024!

I spoke with President Trump, and we had a great conversation about winning Pennsylvania. The road to the White House goes right through the Keystone State.

While Republicans have just a slight majority in the U.S. House, we have passed legislation to secure our border, promote energy dominance, and more. Meanwhile, we have prevented Democrats from passing new burdensome regulations, taxes, and excessive spending, including tens of billions of dollars in student loan forgiveness giveaways. Our committees have fought to keep the SEC, EPA, and other agencies in check, notably helping to secure a victory on WOTUS. The House Oversight Committee is also the only reason Biden’s corruption has been exposed, and evidence has come to light regarding his family’s pay-to-play scheme with foreign nationals.

Despite Republicans only controlling the U.S. House, we have been successful in our efforts to counter Democrat policies that would harm America. If we are truly going to grow our economy to outcompete China, strengthen our national security, secure our border, and abide by Constitutional law, we must take the White House and gain the majority in the Senate. If we do that, Republican policies will undoubtedly lead to a more prosperous, safer country. I joined "Mornings with Maria" on Fox Business to discuss this and more. Unfortunately, the Biden Administration’s international policy has been disastrous as well. His strategy of appeasement has emboldened our enemies overseas, and the lack of leadership coming out of this White House is inhibiting Congress’ ability to hold our adversaries accountable. My Freezing HAMAS Act, which passed out of committee with significant bipartisan support, will help combat Iran’s ability to pursue terror by freezing the $6 billion Biden made available to the regime. I joined Newsmax’s "Wake Up America” to discuss this issue. Click here or below to watch my interview.

I joined WILK Newsradio with Bob Cordaro to cover the ongoing situation in Israel, legislation I’ve introduced to combat Iran, and the stopgap funding bill that will give our Conference the time needed to pass conservative standalone appropriations bills. Click here to listen to my interview.

IN NEWS YOU WON’T HEAR IN THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA: Biden loves Iran. How else can you explain his desire to keep giving Iran more money?

Weak, disgraceful, and embarrassing — there is no other way to characterize Biden’s appeasement of Iran, the world’s largest state sponsor of terrorism.

Yet, somehow, it keeps getting worse.

This week, the Biden administration unilaterally approved another sanctions waiver that unlocks a fresh $10 billion in frozen funds for the Iranian regime.

It’s the latest chapter in Biden’s doomed attempts at bribing the Iranians to stop their terrorism. After taking office, Biden relaxed sanctions on Iran, enabling the regime to generate $80 billion in illicit oil revenue. In July, Biden first issued a waiver giving Iran access to access approximately $10 billion in frozen funds. Then, Biden paid a $6 billion ransom to Iran — on the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.

Biden officials delusionally swear the funds are for “humanitarian” purposes only — never mind the fact that money is fungible.

It doesn’t matter to Biden that Iran helped plan the October 7 terrorist attack in Israel, nor that Iran-backed militias have attacked U.S. personnel times over the past month.

Biden would rather appease Iran in pursuit of a failed nuclear deal.

As a member of the U.S. House Committee on Small Business, I understand that we need reality, not ideology, when it comes to supporting America's small businesses. We must stop wasting American taxpayer dollars on programs that aren't delivering results for entrepreneurs and direct resources toward proven programs, such as the SBA’s SBDC program. Americans shouldn't have their tax dollars wasted on redundant and inefficient programs. This week, I questioned Mark Madrid, Associate Administrator for the Office of Entrepreneurial Development (OED) at the U.S. Small Business Administration, regarding inflation and hiring shortages' impacts on small businesses.Click hereor below to listen to my remarks and questions.

Another rising concern in the nation is the nursing workforce shortage. It has reached a critical point and must be addressed immediately. That’s why I introduced an amendment today to increase funding for the Health Workforce Account by $10 million in the Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies Appropriation bill. My amendment, which is completely paid for by off-sets, will provide additional funding for Nurse Corps Programs. By expanding scholarship and loan repayment opportunities for nurses working in facilities facing shortages, we can help increase the number of healthcare providers in underserved communities, particularly in rural America. I am happy my amendment passed unanimously in the House and will be included in the bill's final version. Click here or below to watch my remarks on the floor of the U.S. House.

Check out my “Fox Across America” interview with Jason Chaffetz on FOX News Radio. We discussed rising crime in our nation’s capital, which my staff and I, and residents across D.C. have experienced. We also chatted about my efforts to combat Iran and ensure the regime does not have an additional $6 billion in its coffers to pursue terror.  Click here or below to listen.

Finally, I wish everyone the best as they prepare for the Thanksgiving holiday. Whether that means traveling to meet family or preparing the home for a big family get-together or those who are working, Shelley and I wish you a happy and safe holiday.

We look forward to catching up with you next week. God Bless, and see you soon,

Dan Meuser
