Good evening. This was the first week, as a Congressman, where I was not required to go to Washington, D.C. for votes and it provided me a great opportunity to spend much-needed time in the District.
One of the main issues I am working on concerns storm water fees in our District and throughout the Chesapeake Bay watershed. I personally met with the Environmental Protection Agency, sent a letter to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, and am working with local government leaders to resolve this issue. We are making progress and I am hopeful that we are working towards a resolution to this issue. In a recent editorial from the Wilkes Barre Times Leader, they acknowledged my efforts on this issue. I certainly appreciate their recognition, but my goal is to get this resolved for the hardworking people of the 9th Congressional District.
On Tuesday, before meeting with constituents, I appeared on Fox Business' "Mornings with Maria Bartiromo" to discuss the U.S.-China trade talks. President Trump is working hard to erase the trade inequities that have existed between our two nations. China has been taking advantage of our nation for years and I applaud the President for working for free, but fair, trade. Click here or on the image below to watch.
Yesterday, I had a productive day in Schuylkill County meeting with constituents and organizations including the Alzheimer's Association of Greater PA, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and the American Federation of Government Employees. I also got to meet with State Senator Dave Argall, local officials and representatives from local businesses to discuss the revitalization of the city of Pottsville.
Last night, I was able to speak to the Berks County Patriots. It was nice to see so many friends and speak about my time in Congress. I am enthused by the energy in that room and their commitment to the conservative principles of limited government and fiscal responsibility. I made a promise when I campaigned that, if elected, I would not forget to come back and provide updates on my activities in Congress. I am honored to keep that promise and meet with so many good friends, including Berks County Commissioner Christian Leinbach.
Today, I had another good day in the District, meeting with a fantastic manufacturing company in Schuylkill County, Silberline. This company is a world-class manufacturer of aluminum pigments for many industries worldwide. And earlier in the day, I had meetings related to some very important District issues. Tonight, I am attending the Back Mountain Police Association 60th Anniversary Celebration in my hometown of Dallas. It has been such a great week home in the District, outside of Washington, working with and working for the great people of the 9th.
In News you won’t hear in the mainstream media… According to the sponsor of the “gan-Green New Deal,” each of the Democratic presidential candidates are supporting this legislation. This is a multi-trillion dollar plan that provides funding for those unwilling to work. That is not the direction that will Keep America Great. This is the latest reminder that the Democratic Party has been taken over by the extreme socialist left.
With the socialist left willing to support these extreme policies, we can and will re-elect President Donald Trump, starting with ensuring Pennsylvania stays firmly in his corner.
Thank you for your continued support and I look forward to continuing to work to make the 9th Congressional District and our nation a more prosperous and safe place to work and raise our families.
