Weekly Update - 1.29.23

Good evening and welcome to our Weekend Update.

We were in Washington this week, and the GOP-led House is already delivering. I had the honor of presiding over the House of Representatives for the first time as a member of Congress.

House Republicans have returned regular order to the House and are working to deliver on our Commitment to America.

Federal tax revenues are up, yet the Biden administration and Biden Democrats continue their expensive, wasteful spending spree. The Biden administration and his Democratic allies have borrowed over $5 trillion in the past two years, and that’s why inflation, interest rates, and housing prices have increased. This excessive government spending is the root of many evils. The more the government spends, the more the government wastes. We need to get serious about cutting government spending in all areas of the budget. I joined Maria Bartiromo on “Mornings with Maria” on Fox Business to discuss the need to get control of spending. I appeared on Newsmax’s “Wake Up America” with Rob Finnerty and Alison Maloni to discuss the Biden administration and Biden Democrats' refusal to discuss spending cuts. Click here or below to watch my interview.

I joined C-SPAN’s “Washington Journal” to discuss the debt ceiling and federal spending. Click here to watch my interview.

I joined RJ Harris on WHP-580 for our monthly interview to discuss the debt ceiling and my committee assignments in Congress. Click here to listen to our discussion.

Stay tuned as I will be a guest on this Monday's "Keystone Edition" on WVIA. The show premieres on Monday at 9 p.m. and will air throughout the week.

What makes the Democrat’s excessive spending spree even worse is the $80 billion they allocated to the IRS to go after American families as they work to squeeze every last tax dollar out of hardworking American families and businesses. Additionally, on any given day, the majority of IRS employees are teleworking while nearly 9 million Americans are still waiting to have their IRS returns processed. That’s why I introduced the Require Employees To Uniformly Return Now (RETURN) Act to require all IRS employees to return to work in person and prohibit the IRS from spending any of the $80 billion they were allocated until the tax backlog is eliminated. Before the IRS even considers undertaking a massive expansion, doubling the size of its workforce, the current backlog and inefficiencies in its workforce must be addressed. This legislation will do just that. Click here to read more.

IN NEWS YOU WON’T HEAR IN THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA: Can you believe that Joe Biden is actively bragging about the hurt he’s done to the U.S. economy and American families?

He’s promoting myths… but here are the facts.

Biden’s agenda has:

How has that impacted the financial security of American families?

The bottom line is that American families are poorer because of Biden and the Biden Democrats' agenda. Biden has nothing to brag about during his time in office, especially on the economy.

After a long, busy week in Washington, it was time to make some stops in the district. I began my Saturday morning at Patriots Cove in Noxen with my good friend Hal Flack and Patriots Cove president and co-founder Jeff Swire and Melissa Swire. I got the opportunity to see the property and hear of the good work that Patriots Cove provides to disabled veterans. (Pictured below with Hal Flack and Jeff Swire)

Later, I headed to our newly opened Tunkhannock office to meet with my friend and dairy farmer advocate, Arden Tukesberry, to discuss issues facing the dairy industry.

My good friend Bradford County Commissioner Doug McLinko, Bradford County GOP Chairman Dick Harris and many others helped put together a great lunch with over 70 folks in their county. Bradford County has always been one of my favorite places to visit, hunt, and enjoy time with friends and the beautiful countryside. It is now an honor to represent them, be their voice in Washington, and deliver on plans that improve the quality of life and stimulate economic growth of the area. We got to discuss all of the issues that concern people. I was also glad to have State Treasurer Stacy Garrity and State Representative Tina Pickett join me at this event.

After our luncheon, my friend Henry Dunn brought me to Child Hunger Outreach Partners in Towanda, led by Dani Ruhf. I got the opportunity to see the great work done by this organization, where they provide food to thousands of children on a daily basis.

Our next stop was Metadyne Inc. which employs over 50 people in Bradford County and the surrounding area. They educated me on their business and their industry. I got to see some of their great engineered products that are encouraging American manufacturing.

My last stop of the day was at the Keystone Theater in Towanda, where I stopped to wish the very talented Linet McLinko good luck as she prepared to take the stage for the Bradford County Dancing with the Stars event.

We will be back in Washington again next week. I look forward to catching you up on what we accomplish in our next Weekend Update.

And finally, LET'S GO IGGLES! Let's get that Super Bowl victory!

Until then, God bless, and see you soon,

Dan Meuser
