Meuser for Congress Releases Statement Supporting ICE

POTTSVILLE– The Meuser for Congress campaign released the following statement reiterating his support U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and their agents and denounced increased calls from the liberal leftists to abolish ICE.

“There is a growing movement among the liberal left to demand the elimination of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Border Patrol. This has gone from being whispered amongst the radical left to be a key campaign plank for Democratic candidates across the country. I think that is an irresponsible and dangerous position,” Meuser said. “Those supporting this policy are saying that we will have no borders, you can ignore our laws and stay in our country as long as you like. By taking this position, they are saying that dangerous gangs like MS-13 are welcome to come here to commit crimes and put legal American lives in jeopardy.

“Americans don’t want ICE and our Border Patrol abolished, they want those agencies strengthened. They want our borders secured, individuals coming into our country to be vetted and for them to go through our immigration process legally. A vote for a candidate who supports the abolition of ICE and the Border Patrol, is a vote for chaos and disorder.”

According to the White House, there were nearly 33,000 arrests by ICE personnel, criminal arrests, individuals who came into this country illegally, and then pursued crime against our people. Nearly one million pounds of narcotics were seized by ICE agents in 2017 alone. ICE agents rescued 518 human trafficking victims, and 904 children subject to child exploitation were rescued by ICE agents all across America. (White House, 6/6/18)
