Hazleton Police Chief Jerry Speziale Endorses Meuser for Congress

Dan Meuser for Congress 11th District PA is proud to announce the support of Hazleton Police Chief Jerry Speziale, a renowned and decorated law enforcement leader with over 37 years of experience.

Chief Speziale was brought in to run the Hazleton Police Department under Hazleton Mayor Jeff Cusat. Speziale has vast experience in law enforcement: formerly a member of the New York City Police Department (including with the US Drug Enforcement Task Force) and has also held positions as the Director of the Paterson New Jersey Police Department, Sheriff of Passaic County, New Jersey, Deputy Police Superintendent - Assistant Director of Public Safety for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Police Department, and as Chief of Police for the City of Prichard, Alabama. Speziale was among the first responders arriving the day of the 9/11 attacks at Ground Zero, and then was part of efforts to secure the George Washington Bridge immediately after the attacks.

He graduated with a Master’s degree in Administrative Sciences from Fairleigh Dickinson University, a BS degree in Criminal Justice from Caldwell College, attended the University of Louisville Southern Police Institute Administrative Officer’s Academy, Princeton University FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development School, and the prestigious Harvard University Kennedy School of Government’s Senior Executives in State and Local Government program.

Since his arrival as Chief of Police for the City of Hazleton, the Hazleton Police Department has implemented advanced technologies for more efficient reporting of crimes, data-driven policing, predictive analysis, increased foot patrols, among things.

“Enough with the all-talk politicians, we need real problem-solvers in Washington DC; leaders who will actually get things done, who will support the police and fight to enforce our border security so that drugs stop flooding into our communities,” said Speziale, “After getting to know Dan Meuser, who was raised in a law enforcement household and is a smart business person with a proven track record of success, I think he’s the guy in the race who will fight the hardest and work the closest with law enforcement on solutions that will ultimately help communities like Hazleton thrive.”

“I am humbled and honored by Chief Speziale’s support. Being the son of a New York City Police Officer who rose through the ranks to Detective, I understand first-hand the sacrifices made every day by those on the thin blue line and their families, and I will do my utmost to have their backs, as they’ve always had ours. The City of Hazleton has become like my second home, and I will support the needs of those who work so hard to keep it safe,” said Meuser.
