Berks County Sheriff Eric J. Weaknecht Endorses Dan Meuser for Congress

POTTSVILLE – Today, the Meuser for Congress Campaign announced that Dan Meuser, Republican nominee for the 9th Congressional District, has received the endorsement from Berks County Sheriff Eric J. Weaknecht:

“Dan Meuser is someone law enforcement can trust to prioritize the safety of our communities and who will work to ensure we have the tools necessary to do our jobs,” said Sheriff Weaknecht. “Dan has been active working with the local communities to have discussions on ways we can all work together to address the opioid epidemic. I am confident that Dan will work hand-in-hand with our state and local officials and be an excellent Congressman.”

Dan added, “Sheriff Weaknecht is a dedicated law enforcement officer and we are excited to have him as part of our campaign,” Meuser said. “As the son of a police officer, I understand and commend Sheriff Weaknecht for his selfless work over these past decades protecting his community. I know he will be a great resource to our campaign. If elected, I look forward to working with him and other local law enforcement officers to take on the opioid crisis and keep our communities safe.”

Berks County Sheriff Eric J. Weaknecht was first elected in 2007 and has been a member of the Berks County Sheriff’s Office since 1984. Sheriff Weaknecht has established a number of initiatives to serve the public, including Project Lifesaver to help Berks County citizens with cognitive disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease and Autism who have wandered away from home. Nationwide Project Lifesaver has safely recovered over 2,200 clients with an average recovery time of 30 minutes, he has streamlined the process for law-abiding citizens of Berks County to receive their license to carry firearms permits, added a substation and remote locations for closer access to local communities and many other worthwhile programs.

Dan Meuser is a Candidate for US Congress. Dan has served both as a private sector businessman responsible for helping create thousands of jobs and as Secretary of the Department of Revenue for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Dan has been endorsed by countless elected officials, including those in law enforcement like Lebanon County District Attorney Dave Arnold and Luzerne County District Attorney Stefanie Salavantis as well as Lebanon County Sheriff Bruce Klingler.
